“La Cà” is a verb in Vietnamese which describes a relaxing activity. Like when one goes to a bar to enjoy a few beers, some food, and then come home late. Upon arriving home a family member may ask: “Where did you La Cà today?”
With the abundance of Vietnamese Pho restaurants around the Puget Sound, we wanted to create a something a little different. We decided to open a bar and bring Vietnamese street food to Tacoma.
Where is the best street food in Vietnam found?
Vietnamese cuisine originates from around Thua Thien Hue (Huế), a city in central Vietnam. Hue was the former imperial capital of Vietnam from 1802–1945, where the royals gathered together the country’s best chefs to prepare their meals. Everyone wanted to enjoy the same foods of royals, so street vendors duplicated many of the same recipes. This is how street food from central Vietnam became world renowned.
